God and Judgment

Written by Frank Jamerson.

Robert  Ingersoll, the famous militant atheist, was lecturing against the existence of God, and affirming that there is no heaven nor hell. When he finished, an old drunk stood and with a thick tongue said, “I sure hope you’re right, brother Bob. I’m counting on that!” Yes, there are many who really hope that Robert was right about there being no God and no life after death.

In addition to those who have been misled into believing that everything that exists came into being without an eternal God to create it, there are many who profess to believe that God created everything, but they live as though He does not exist.

If you really believed that there is no God, what would you do differently? Many do not have time to study God’s word, nor do they pray to Him, but if you accused them of not believing, they would be insulted! Many see no need to worship Him as He instructs in His word, but they would be offended if you accused them of not believing in God. Many who profess to worship Him, make little effort to conform their lives to His word, yet they would be highly offended if you suggested that they had better hope that Robert Ingersoll was right! He wasn’t, but even if he were, the true Christian has nothing to lose!
